OVERVIEW

Nar Phu Kangla Pass and Chulu Far East Trek is a challenging and rewarding adventure that takes you to the remote and hidden valleys of Nar and Phu, which lie north of the popular Annapurna Circuit route. This trek offers you a unique opportunity to explore the ancient culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the people living in these isolated regions, as well as to see the stunning scenery of the Trans-Himalayan landscape, like that of Tibet. You will also cross the high passes, the Kang La Pass (5,320m) which supplies breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Chulu, and Pisang. The trek also offers a rare opportunity to experience the culture and lifestyle of the Nar and Phu people, who are ethnically Tibetan and follow a mix of Buddhism. The Nar and Phu valleys are rich in ancient monasteries, chortens, Mani walls, and caves that reflect their spiritual heritage.

The trek starts from Besisahar, the same trailhead as the Annapurna Circuit, and follows the Marshyangdi River until Koto, where it branches off to the north. The trek then enters the restricted area of Nar and Phu, which requires a special permit and a guide. The trek passes through the villages of Dharmasala, Meta (Methang), Chyakhu, Kyang, Phu, Nar, and Kangla Phedi, before crossing the Kang La Pass and re-joining the Annapurna Circuit at Ngawal. From Nagwal, we will start another journey to Climb Chulu Far East Peak (6059 m). We will push for the summit, taking in the full glory of the views of the Annapurna massifs, Chulu Peaks, Gangapurna, Mustang Valley and Himlung Valley.

The trek then continues to Manang, where you visit the Braga Gompa, Braga Gompa is an ancient monastery located in the village of Braga, about 3 km from Manang. It is one of the oldest and most impressive gompas in the region, dating back to the 15th century. It belongs to the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and houses hundreds of Buddha statues, paintings, and relics. The monastery is built against a rocky cliff and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It offers you to experience the culture and lifestyle of the people. You then return through the Annapurna Circuit route through Lower Pisang and Chame, the headquarters of Manang. You re-join the Koto, where you left the Annapurna Circuit trail for the hidden valley of Nar Phu. From there, you will drive through Besisahar, following the Marsyangdi River to Kathmandu.
