Trekkers in Nepal can explore various routes, but certain ‘Restricted Areas’ require a permit from the Department of Immigration, applicable only through authorized trekking agencies. Individual trekkers are not permitted; a minimum of two trekkers is required, accompanied by a licensed guide. Compliance with local customs, specified routes, and official instructions is mandatory. Mountaineers with an expedition permit must also acquire a trekking permit if their route crosses Restricted Areas.

Note:- In the case of Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpa Region if the royalty paid for the mountain expedition is less than the fee for the trekking permit then the difference amount should be paid.

A park entry permit must be obtained to enter protected areas. Park entry fees may be paid at the Tourist Service Center, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, or at the entry points.
