Essential Travel Insurance Information for Your Adventure with Rise Expeditions and Treks Pvt. Ltd.

Adventure and risk are separated by the level of preparation you have. Heading into nature is an adventure; failing to secure proper insurance is a risk. To ensure your safety and peace of mind during your stay in Nepal, Rise Expeditions and Treks Pvt. Ltd. recommends purchasing comprehensive travel insurance.

As stated in our Terms and Conditions, Rise Expeditions is not liable for expenses arising from emergencies or unforeseen events. Additionally, foreigners cannot purchase insurance while in Nepal. Thus, clients must obtain a robust travel insurance plan from their home country. This plan should cover trip cancellations, helicopter evacuations, medical emergencies, illness, lost luggage, theft, disasters, death, and more.

Key Points to Consider for Your Travel Insurance:

  1. Helicopter Evacuation: If an accident or illness requires helicopter evacuation, we can arrange it but do not cover the costs involved. Without insurance specifically covering helicopter rescue, these costs can be very high.
  2. Medical Expenses: Medical treatment in high-altitude and cold conditions can be costly. Sometimes, a mobile medical team may need to accompany the helicopter crew, increasing expenses. Ensure your insurance covers these potential costs.
  3. Clear Communication with Insurer: When buying insurance, clearly explain your itinerary and risks to the insurer. This will help you get the right coverage and make the claims process smoother if needed.
  4. Consult Multiple Providers: It’s wise to compare different insurance providers before choosing a policy. Be specific about ‘mountaineering’ or ‘alpinism’ when discussing your needs.
  5. Trip Cancellation Coverage: Since client deposits are non-refundable, having insurance that covers trip cancellations is essential.
  6. Submit Insurance Documentation: Before arrival in Nepal, provide us with a copy of your insurance policy or certificate so we can take appropriate action if an emergency arises.

At Rise Expeditions, we understand that potential travelers often wonder why our website doesn’t display fixed trip prices. This approach is deliberate, as we believe personalized pricing better addresses the unique needs of each client. Here’s an overview of the factors influencing our customized pricing:

  1. Unique Traveller Needs: Each traveler has distinct preferences and requirements. By offering tailored services, we ensure that every client enjoys a personalized experience.
  2. Customizable Service Levels: Our packages range from Standard Services to Luxury Services, which can be adjusted according to the client’s desires, significantly impacting the cost.
  3. Variety of Service Types: We provide both Full Board Service and Basecamp Service expeditions. The selected service type directly affects the trip’s overall price.
  4. Group Dynamics: The composition and size of the group, including climbers, non-climbers, and support staff, as well as the preferred hotel accommodations, play a crucial role in determining the cost.
  5. Flexible Itineraries: Customising the trip schedule to add or remove days based on client needs can result in price variations.
  6. Additional Staffing: The requirement for extra personnel, such as Sardar and climbing guides, high-altitude workers, kitchen staff, and basecamp personnel, influences the total expenditure.
  7. Special Equipment Needs: Requests for additional oxygen bottles or specific brands of mask regulators can increase the overall cost.
  8. Seasonal Price Variations: The cost of trips varies with the season. Expeditions in summer, autumn, or winter are typically less expensive than those in the spring.
  9. Dietary Preferences: Clients with special dietary requirements at base camp or higher camps may incur additional costs compared to standard meal provisions.
  10. Experienced IVBV/IFMGA/UIAGM/NNMGA mountain guides: We have a team of highly experienced IVBV/IFMGA/UIAGM/NNMGA mountain guides who are familiar with each mountain terrain and can provide you with basic mountaineering skills and training. Please note that incorporating such skills and training into your adventure may affect the overall price.

By utilizing PK Sherpa’s vast experience, we create packages tailored to each client’s specifications. While our website showcases standard itineraries and commonly used package options, we encourage direct consultation for a detailed, personalized price quote. Please contact us for specific information and pricing for the trip you are interested in.

Note: It is important to understand that we do not use the term “climbing Sherpa” because “Sherpa” is an ethnic caste, not a title. The word has often been misused as a title, which can overlook the contributions of climbing guides from other castes and ethnicities. You may see other agencies using the term “climbing Sherpa guide,” but we choose not to use this term anymore. We respect and admire all high-altitude workers and do not wish to refer to a particular caste as a title.
