The Surya Peak and Gosaikunda Ridge Route Full Camping Trek is an 11-day adventure that takes you through stunning Himalayan landscapes, leading up to a 5,145 masl summit. It’s a mix of challenging trekking, high-altitude camping, and breathtaking views—all wrapped into one unforgettable journey.

The trip starts and ends in Kathmandu, with two nights in a hotel and nine nights camping in the mountains. After a scenic drive to Bhorle in the Rasuwa district, the trek begins with steady ascents through changing landscapes. Each day offers something new—from remote camping spots to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake.

The highlight? Summiting Surya Peak (5,145 masl), where you’ll be rewarded with jaw-dropping views of Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shankar Himal, Yala Peak, Naya Kang, and more. After the climb, the descent leads to Ghopte Cave for an overnight stay before continuing back.

Itinerary

Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will be transferred to the hotel. If you arrive on time, you will have the opportunity to explore the nearby hotel area. As a welcome gesture, our team will provide you with a complimentary dinner at the hotel. Our team, most likely your trip guide or staff, will also provide you with an informal briefing about the days ahead of your full camping trek.

Day 02Drive to Kathmandu to Bhorle (2024m) overnight stay at tent Camp

On the second day of your holiday in Nepal, after an early breakfast at the hotel in Kathmandu, you and our camping crew, along with our guide, will drive towards Bhorle by bus or jeep (the choice depends on the group size). Both the bus and jeep are private. Bhorle is a small village in the Rasuwa district, near Dhunche, the headquarters of Rasuwa. We will have lunch along the way. After turning north from Trisuli River, the road condition becomes poor, and we will experience a bumpy ride up to Bhorle. However, there are some sections where the road condition is good. Covering 100 km from Kathmandu in a 5-6 hour drive, we will reach Bhorle, nearby Shivala School, where we will stay overnight in tent camps.

Day 03Trek to Camping Day 2 (3450m)

In the early morning, we will have breakfast at the tent camp in Bhorle. Afterward, we will start on a steep ascent towards Camping Day 2. This location is situated between 28° 3’38.72″N latitude and 85°16’21.49″E longitude, at an elevation of 3450m.

During the trek, we will pass through silver oak, green oak, and pine forests, enjoying the magnificent periphery views. The trek is cover a distance of 10km, taking approximately 5-6 hours. We will have an overnight stay at the tent camp, offering a breathtaking view of the night sky.

Day 04Trek to Camping Day 3 (3480m)

In the early morning, we will have breakfast at the tent camp on Day 2. Following that, we will start on a trek via the ridge towards Camping Day 3. This location is situated between 28° 4’16.04″N latitude and 85°20’4.76″E longitude, at an elevation of 3436m.

Day 05Trek to Camping Day 4 (4190m)

In the early morning, we will have breakfast at the tent camp on Day 3. Following that, we will trek via the ridge towards Camping Day 4. This location is situated between 28° 3’55.71″N latitude and 85°23’10.18″E longitude, at an elevation of 4190m.

The trek is cover approximately 7 km, taking approximately 6-7 hours. Later in the evening, we will have an overnight stay at the tent camp at Lamu kunda, offering a beautiful night sky view.

Day 06Trek to Surya Peak Base Camp (4762m)

In the early morning, we will have breakfast at the tent camp on Day 4. Following that, we will cover 4km trek to reach Gosaikunda (4380m). Gosaikunda is renowned as a pristine alpine lake, possessing natural, cultural, and spiritual significance. The area is said to have 108 lakes, including the prominent Gosaikunda. While there is not concrete evidence for all these lakes, the vicinity of Gosaikunda boasts other lakes such as Sara Swati Kunda, Bharav Kunda, Nag Kunda, Dudh Kunda, Chandra Kunda, Mother Kunda, Surya Kunda, etc. Each of these kundas holds religious significance, making this area a sacred place for both Hindu and Buddhist religions.

Annually, during the Janaipurnima festival (full Moon night, which falls in August), a large number of devotees visit this sacred place. After explore Gosaikunda we will trek to Surya Peak Base Camp, where we will overnight stay at tent Camp.

Day 07Summit Surya Peak (5145m) and descent Ghopte Cave (3530m)

In the early morning, breakfast will be served at Base Camp, situated at an elevation of 4762m on flat land with a nearby lake, making it the ideal location for the base camp. Following this, we will proceed to summit Surya Peak. Surya Peak is located between 28° 4’60.00″N latitude and 85°26’21.75″E longitude, standing at an elevation of 5145m. From the summit, breathtaking views of Gangchhenpo (6388m), Naya Kang (5846m), Yala Peak (5500m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), and Gaurishankhar Himal (7134m) can be discovered. After spending a few minutes at the peak, we will descend to Ghopte Cave for an overnight stay in tent Camp.

Day 08Trek to Mangengoth (3390m) from Ghopte Cave

We will descend and then cross the small stream to reach Thadepati Pass at an elevation of 3690m, where we will have lunch. After that, we will proceed through Saune to reach Mangengoth at 3390m and accommodation at tent Camp.

Day 09Trek to Kutumsang (2470m)

In the early morning, after breakfast, we will descend down to Kutumsang, a village located in the Nuwakot district. It is dominated by the Sherpa and Tamang communities and is one of the beautiful villages where we will have our lunch and stay overnight at tent Camp.

Day 10Drive Back to Kathmandu

After finishing our camping trek, we will drive back to Kathmandu. Expect to reach Kathmandu in the late afternoon. Following our arrival, there will be time to rest before rejoining for a farewell dinner at a fine restaurant or hotel in Kathmandu with our company staffs.

Day 11Departure from Tribhuvan International Airport

After completing this 15-day trip, the final day will be spent in Kathmandu, Nepal, the beautiful heritage wooden city. Your departure will be from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). To secure your spot on the Climb Surya Peak and Trek Gosaikunda Ridge Route Full Camping Trek, a 30% deposit is required upon booking. After confirmation, an additional 40% must be deposited at least one month before your arrival. The remaining balance is due upon arrival in Nepal. Payments can be made via cash or credit card, with any bank charges for credit card payments being the responsibility of the participant.
